I have been a birdwatcher since 1981. I started while I was in high school and have enjoyed this hobby ever since. I earned a B.S. in Environmental Forest and Biology and now teach middle school science and social studies.

I have traveled across the U.S., from Alaska to Florida, Nevada to Maine. I still have many places to go to see new birds. My life list currently stands at 440, having picked up 1 rarity during the winter.

Whenever I am out birding, I am always trying to help others learn to identify birds or figure out the next step in their birdwatching journey. This blog is my next journey in helping many more people learn how to identify birds both visually and by song. I hope you learn a lot by visiting my website.

My first book, The Backyard Bird Sanctuary, is now available through any bookseller.

Feel free to contact me from the Contact tab if you have ANY questions about birdwatching. Glad to help a fellow birder out!
